Pictured is a sample of Christmas postcards that were available in order to send your Christmas greetings. All of these were printed in Germany, and have post marks that range from 1905 to 1908. The quality varies from simple color printing to heavily embossed with gold foil. The colors are still vibrant, considering all of these cards are over 100 years old. I find it interesting to read what the senders have to say, for it is like a time capsule. On one card the sender says "I was looking up and an aeroplane just flew overhead". Remember, the first powered airplane was developed just a few years earlier. The second card pictured was found in a Chicago antique store. The address it was sent to over a century ago was within a mile from my house.
