I wasn't really expecting much from the mall I went to today, but actually found a couple of great pieces of 1900-WWI advertising. I think this is a trolley car sign (size and shape was a givaway to me) from the early 1900's. I looked at the printing and it looked to be chromolithographed, so maybe late 1900's early teens. So anyway, $10 bucks, and it even looks to be professionally framed. The trolley car sign itself isn't in that great of shape, but usually these signs were destroyed or thrown away when new signs came in, so it's in pretty good shape knowing what it probably went through. A major flaw I noticed was it looks trimmed at the top, but the graphics are still there and are still very bright. They made these signs from hand painting or inking the advertising figures and hand lettering the message, then copied the original art to the signs.
