This is how the men in my son's brigade lived in Iraq . This was their houses and he was caught under fire with bombs going off and a Photographer captured him . A Hero to us !
Out of Service now after 30 yrs Amen to his safety although he was hit once and nearly lost his arm and life . God Bless all the men and women that lived threw this and those who did not . We are blessed to have him back . He retired a CSM a few months ago .Thought maybe you might like to see what some troops endured living outside with no protection .

I was in Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2005 with the 45th Infantry Brigade in the Army - Oklahoma National Guard. Most of my time in Iraq was at Camp Cropper and I also worked in the IZ for a few months in Baghdad.

A TRUE HERO !!! As a retired Marine, I thank your family for their sacrifice. It truly is a "family" sacrifice when a member of the family serves during a time of war !!!! Thankfully he is home. Hopefully all of our other troops will soon follow. Thanks again for your families sacrifice. Semper Fi !

Thank your son for me also, and as Marine vet I also thank you as Thrifty did. The family has sacrifices they have to endure the whole time their loved ones are gone away from home. Again tell him THANK YOU and WELCOME HOME.

I am also retired from the Army and my son now serves in Korea. Loved LOVED being a soldier serving my country. My dolls traveled around the globe with me and my family.

My son did a tour in Afghanistan, 2009-2010, it's not easy seeing a child go off to War. Your picture reminded me of my son when you I first saw it. I didn't comment then on it as I was struggling with what to say. I'm glad that your son is home & that he did his country proud.
  28. Manikin Manikin, 3 years ago
Walksoft I so agree War is terrible and when it is so close to home like your child going it makes it even more devastating . I am hoping your son made it back in good health both physically as well as mentally . I know the things my son saw and had to do will stay with him forever . He was hurt and it is permanent problem with arm but he still has one !Thanks for the comment walksoft and lets hope all will be home soon .
  29. walksoftly walksoftly, 3 years ago
Yes, my son did make it home safe & sound & like your son he saw & did things that will stay with him forever. Wish your son well for me, it's not easy living with an injury/disability like that but like you said "he still has one". It's always best to be thankful for what you have, than to focus on what you don't have. It took me a lot of years to figure that one out.

  30. Manikin Manikin, 3 years ago
I am glad your son is ok walksoft . When a person see's a photo like this with your son under fire it is pretty scary . And yes we are thankful to have him and his arm :-) Thanks for the kind words walksoft !
