I found this at an antique shop in poor condition. The case was black, cracked and missing a small piece. The electronics was shot, so I recapped and replaced any out of tolerence resistors, all tubes original, power cord , antenna and backing were gone. I gave it several coats of lacquer then polish. This little radio gets multiple stations. Has that nice warm glow of an old radio. The model as far as I can tell is a General TV and Radio Model 5A5.

Beautiful job indeed! You brought a classic Tabletop back to life. What brand is it?

great job i love the color in fact i might paint my little airline radio a color like this!

Thanks DCB...I found that Krylon or Rustoleum spray paint works great. Stay away from valspar paint, it says it takes about ten minutes to dry....I waited two weeks before the tackyness went away so I could touch it and don't try to polish it. I used polishing compound, like I do with the other paints, to give it a nice shine. It acted like paint remover and destroyed the paint. Had to start from scratch....Just a word of advice

thanks for the advice REED i will defenatly stay away from valspar! my little airline radio was white originally but the paint was bad so i stripped it down to the brownish/Black backlight finish but i think that since the radio is probably not worth much i will paint it a brighter color
