These earrings are a mystery to me. There are no markings or metal content. They look very old and could possibly be a pair of mourning earrings? Not sure if the gems are real garnet, opal, diamonds. Does anyone know the story and possible value of these earrings?

I'd venture to say the pendants are not original and maybe didn't even start their life as pendants.
From what I can tell in the picture, it looks like these were fine costume pieces from the early part of the 19th century, anywhere from 1900 to the twenties. The rhinestones are cut like others I've seen from that period; the design looks more european to me, I can't say I've seen anything that similar to the design of these. They put much care into costume jewellery back then, when they were all still individually made by hand, just with base metals and rhinestones instead of fine jewels, gold or silver.
Value wise, depends on the market of where you are selling. Costume pieces with signatures fetch good prices among collectors, ones without can still get a decent buck, but most likely under 100$, when they in decent, wearable condition like yours.
