The Pearl Harbor Survivors Assocation had ask the Navy to name a Destroyer or Crusier Pearl Harbor, but the Navy decided to name a Landing Ship Dock as it's namesake. I attended the Christening on Feb 24, 1996 and the Commissioning on May 30 1998. The homeport for the USS Pearl Harbor is San Diego, CA.

“Plank Owner” – someone who was on the crew when the ship was commissioned (Navy guys are welcome to correct me if I said it wrong).
I was in a newly formed joint unit under the Atlantic Command several years back, so as an Army guy I got to work for a Navy Commander. He called us all “plank owners” in this new unit, and when we rotated out, we got a plaque to that effect.
Maybe AR8Jason can answer your question, But members of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association received "plank owners" plaques. Iam a member of the Sons & Daughters Pearl Harbor Survivors and I received a plaque also. I believe we pushed the Department of Navy so hard to name a ship after "Pearl Harbor"
that they were glad to get rid of us after the ship was built. We wrote letters to our senators and congressman(woman) To get a ship named after Pearl Harbor before all the Survivors were gone.
Thank you Chrisnp for your comments.
