Hope someone can help me figure out what this thing is. I found it on the side of the road that someone was throwing away with garbage. I thought it was unique looking. But, I have no idea what it is. I'm guessing it might be a lamp post cover for the light. Have no idea otherwise. The design on the "top" of it has bird with it's wings spread out and leaves around it. The "bottom" of it has 3 bars going into the middle of it. (See pics) As in the photo, it's uniquely decorated with leaves or vines. It kind of looks oriental in it's decorations. ? I'm only guessing at everything. I'm not too good at choosing types of metal, but it "looks" like it would be pewter, but it's not soft like pewter. Anyone have any idea?

This is in the past, when the cold inside a small charcoal fire, heating it! Relatively safe. Generally have children at home, near the charcoal used to prevent a child! Want to help you explained!

I have found out it is solid, pure brass. It is not cleaned. Is there any type of market for this item to be sold if I would decide to sell it? It would HAVE to be beautiful if I cleaned it being shiny brass! How much would this be worth? Do I call it a "heated seat"? Suizizheng, you could help me, please? Or if anyone else has more information about this thing.

it looks like landscape furniture to me and could be used as a plant stand or pedestal. Would look really nice in a landscaped garden area.

Thanks Dean for the advice. I know natural patina is extremely important to collectors. I would love to find out how old this is, but exhausted my search because I cannot find any pictures of anything like it. I had never heard of this thing before. And if I could find out if there is a market for this type of item. If a selling price wouldn't be that much, I WOULD clean it up because it is a beautiful piece and would use it as a plant stand like I have been using it for. But in the condition it's in, it just looks like an old "plant" stand that looks like regular old iron of some type. When I cleaned a little section on top of it, the glistening gold color came to surface. It defininely is brass. It would be gorgeous cleaned up, but if the price would be right to sell it, I wouldn't touch it anymore. I love antiques and am thrilled to find this thing in someone's trash!! I know they had no idea what is was either! Can you find me any pictures of items like this to prove what it really is? I would appreciate all the help I can get. I'm so excited!!

I LOVE this piece. Whatever it is, please don't polish it. If you're planning on selling, you'll get more cash as is. Good Luck!
