hi walk i noticed you was asking scottvez about odor on pics - what i do is get a piece of cardboard and lay the pics on the cardboard in a ventilated room but out of sunlight for 3 or 4 days and the cardboard will take all the moisture out of the pics which causes the smell

For what it is worth I have also found that Baking soda sprinkled on will absorb a lot of unwanted wiffs. ;o) What treasure these images are. I hope you will display them proudly in your home and not leave them in a box some where. ;o)
We managed to remove the odor by layering the pictures between heavy cloth with a light mist of Febreeze on the cloth, then left them to sit for a few days & repeated if necessary. I do like the idea of the baking Soda as I hate the perfume smell of Febreeze.
We are currently renovating our basement, it will be our collections room, so we will be able to display our pictures, just not all at once.

Enjoy your new room and your fabulous collection. I am envious. I do have pictures of my Dad's Grandparents but that is as far as I can go. I have seen a picture of my Mother's Grandfather but I do not know where it went. ;o( You are very lucky to have such treasure. If you can you might want to make copies and keep them either in the bank or on a website.
Thanks Lisa, I have been scanning pictures & post card's for the last 18 months or so & have copies in multiple locations. I think I need my own bank safe to protect all the originals though.
