Out running around a few weeks ago and came across this old 1930's Pure Oil Co. tanker truck. It has Hubley embossed on the tires and is 15" long and about 4 3/4 wide. It's a little rough but still shows the Pure Oil logo very well. It goes with all the gas station memorabilia that I collect.

That is a great find.
I know where an old tanker truck is sitting. It appears to be early 1950's and half hidden behind several old cars. I have been trying to get a pic, but I cannot ever find anybody around.

Wow! What a great find. Especially with all the lights, bumber, and grill still intact. These usually came off and got lost. The Hubley tires may not be original tothis truck as it is a Metalcraft toy. Heres a link to a little history of Metalcraft.

I believe it was used to haul fuel oil to heat houses or I think it could have hauled gasoline or even bulk oil. I think it was used in several applications. Hope this answers your question.
A Full size truck like that would have hauled several different fuels at one time, fuel oil for homes, gasoline, distalate & diesel for farm and business. In the back compartment they would have hauled barrels of oil, pails of grease etc. Wonderful!!

As a child on the farm I always preferred my brothers trucks, etc,(playing in the dirt) over baby dolls and pretty things. SO, I really notice these old toys!! Merry Christmas to you, too ;)

This thing is super cool; I love the front end. Fitting those lights so gracefully into the body really make it stand out from the other electrified makers. Wyandotte, Marx, and Structo have nothing on this truck when it comes to that!

I've looked for communities online to share my interests, but many seem very focused on one area, so I wasn't able to get much of a response. This, on the other hand, is very much what I was needing. This is a 1934 - 1936 Metalcraft of St. Louis, Pure Oil tanker. They came in two styles, closed (skirted) fenders like this one and open front fenders. The tires SHOULD have the name YALE on them, it was the only truck with Yale tires.

Outstanding truck! I especially like all the details. Judging from the verticality of the rear of the cab where the door would be hinged and the angled line below the windshield post, this was fashioned after a truck that had suicide doors such as Graham Bros., and Dodge Bros. I just love it!
