Found this at an estate sale the other day so do not know the history. Friends have told me it is from the 1940s. Just thought it was really neat looking. I think it is a mantlepiece since it is 33" from end to end and the highest point candle holder is 14" Would love to know more about it so I don;t appear so dumb when people ask me about my treasure.

Forgot to mention that it is all metal and hand painted...Santa has the old Santa face and blue mittens.
I'm certainly no expert on this type of item, but it looks like 1980s to me. The style isn't at all like anything I've seen from the 1940s.
