This was my farm in Wi ( Tomah) it had 80 acres and a steam . We heated with a wood stove , it has new owners now , sure miss it . My kids got to learn a lot from my yrs of farming. I will post the original farm I spent my childhood at next. Imagine only 27 thousand . We restored it lots of work!

That is so amazingly awesome! I love Everything about it! The barn is beautiful, I never thought I would EVER say that about a barn! The roof lines, WoW. Farming IS hard work. I was blessed to be able to run around and enjoy all the fun and charm of farm life, but not have to do any of the hard work. We didn't have any "fun" animals like horses or goats. If I could, I would get a barn and fill it with llamas and alpacas. And Polish Chickens.
Sometimes we had to go cut the asparagus, and I remember my Mom not wanting to make the drive out there, but I was always so glad to go do it, and really, who would whine about all you can eat asparagus!?! The whole time all she ever did was to stand on the porch & yell at us to cut the stalks, "Shorter, make the cut under the ground! Cut deeper!" while smoking and drinking vodka anyways...Ahhh, such fond memories :)
Did your children like living on a farm?

It's to bad you had to leave such a beautiful farm, 27,000 doesn't get you a decent car now. I drove through Wisconsin in 1996 stayed overnight in Eau Claire, & would have drove right by Tomah. It is a beautiful state, would love to see it again.

Thanks Beaux and walksoft ! I hated to leave this farm but at time economy was bad and although I had a job at VA hospital my husband could not find steady work any place near . Winters were harsh for driving long distances . So we moved to city in a very small house while Farm was being sold and I am still in that tiny house I left for 4 yrs and bout it back LOL .
My kids have many fond memories of the freedom of the farm and all the hiding places . My son I am sure would have become a proffesional hole digger he had a hole by house he dug in for yrs . It was beautiful there . Now it is a thriving growing city ! I used to drive to Eau Claire Walksoft so you were close to driving right past my farm . We had lots of Amish people around us and it was quite amazing time of my life !
LOL Beauz I am not sure what a polish chicken is :-) My Uncle in Canada raised Llama's the one with the minature horse . It is how he made any money to feed family .

Oh! Mani what a beautiful home I can so! understand how you feel, I could not imagine living in a town after living here because as you know we live at the moment in the same sort of setting but! nowhere as a grander, beautiful home as yours was. I bet you spent a lot of time in that lovely sun-room there!...it is a wonderful place to bring up children they learn so much more and always seem to turn out so much more nicer polite young people...well that's my experience with country kids anyway!....:-)

Oh my! I am in awe of this place! I hope you can someday pick up another place similar to this so that you might feel a bit safer than you do now.

This is just amazing! What a wonderful experience to have lived here. I have also seen photos of your grandmothers place too. Awesome!

Thank you inky ! It started out with a wrap around porch and just screen room on front of house but the outside walkway was so rotted it had to come down . I loved it and I loved the farm but did not like my job at VA it was so depressing I had to leave and move to city where I could find a Nursing job . Thanks again for the love on my farm :-) xoxo
