yes it is a mystery,, always wanted to know what the japanese script said,, i think is a ginger or tea jar from the turn of the century,, has a pottery makers mark on bottom but cant read it.. Can you tell me what this pot was for and what the writing is,, is beautiful painted gold and blue thicker bamboo paint,, by hand. well am still waiting,, if anyone can read the signature,, would appreciate to know who painted it.

Gorgeous piece of Japanese ceramic! Underglaze blue and overglaze bamboo decorations. Mark is for KINKOZAN, a family that produced ceramics for 6 generations ending in 1928.
The cross also represents SATSUMA, this is a high quality piece and quite old, I would suggest about 1900.
