It's Catholic devotional. It bears a variety of 'medals'. This takes me back!
It's a crucifix and on the reverse are some shorthand forms of "medals".
Like a Swiss army knife: it's multifunctional.
This one has "pamiatka"? This suggests that it is a Polish connection.
The left photo, right arm is the "The Miraculous Medal", also known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, created by Saint Catherine Labouré following a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
At the top is the Eucharist Medal.
To the left the Sacred Heart Medal
The multi-way medal is extremely popular for Confirmation and First Communion gifts.
I'm not sure about the rest though there are: the Sacred Heart of Jesus, St. Christopher, St. Joseph Medal, with the Holy Spirit medal as well.
Hello again:
Thank you . I just noticed you recognized my Cross!!! You seem to be a well educated individual on many subjects!! Would you happen to know about how old it may be?? I can send you better photo's if you would like.
Thanks again
John
P.S. This was another item that I knew was special when I first saw it!!!
I'm not so sure that it is unusual.
I was given similar things when I was young.
You could test the metal and see what it is made from: could be brass.
The Mark bears resembles this mark on the right arm of my cross that seems to be very old and Catholic. The information may be helpful. Let me know if you identify that Beautiful Box!
i've never seen one like this before. amazing info from vetraio50 - as always. thank you vetraio50!
I Think it was excavated somewhere around Poland, but I am not sure.
Thank You Tony !!
