The SINIPARTA range (meaning Blue Beard in Finnish) was designed as a glass range for men: bold shapes, thick walls, masculine blue colour and a series of items which, apart from the vases -in 5 sizes- have a masculine use: cocktail and wine glasses, cigarette case and three sizes of ashtrays, decanters and cocktail shakers.
As a man I think it was a risky thing to do at the time because men were not the ones buying glassware nor ornaments for the house. So I think that just like Tamara Aladin was pioneering when she designed a brandy glass that could be handled by a woman's hand in 1959, Nanny Still was pioneering when she designed glassware for men in 1964.
The ones I have arethe cigarette case and the small ashtray (model 1225 in Riihimäen catalogue)

Thanks Murano, I didn't know that but I'll pay more attention to Wirkkala's designs :)
The more I look on your collection, the more, I think, I become a fan of Nanny Still (and also Tamara Aladin)! Very beautiful. Unfortunately Nanny still is so difficult to get!
Thanks CC!!!! I know what you mean, it's becoming soooo overpriced!!! She was a great designer but the prices they're asking for her stuff are absolutely out of the question. Crazy!
I am showing here but a tiny part of my NS stuff... so just wait and see! LOL
