This gold watch belonged to my uncle, a dentist in Eau Clare Wisconsin. It appears to be vintage 1876 based on its serial number 491399. It has "K" over "18" stamped inside the front and back covers. Not sure if this means 18 carot gold or something else. The number "602" and the letters "MX" are also stamped inside the covers. There are 2 back covers, the inside cover is personalized with my uncles name. It can be stem wound, and when I do so it does run.
See if you can get a picture of the inside cover, but mt quess is it's 18 karat gold case. Does it refer to any years? (10, 20, 25 year warranty) Great piece, thanks for sharing

I would say it's an 18 karat gold casing. The hallmark looks to be original, take to your local jeweler, They will verify this. Again VERY NICE family piece.
