Recently found this lamp base and just wonder if anyone knows the model number. It is in really beautiful condition, I thought it was new at first glance but then saw the old felt on the bottom, the replaced cord, and a changed inner socket.
What kind of shade should go on it?

Your base is Handel. Most of the reference books list the design number of the shade and not the base. If you take the felt off the bottom, the number should be molded in the underside, if not, don't worry, it is referred to as one of the Chinese bases. Any Handel shades that are reverse painted, leaded glass, or the overlay of metal on slag glass, would look good on this. Your base is larger, so an 18 to 24 inch shade would fit, depending on the shape. You would need an original heat cap and finial. The finial that you have appears not to be original, but I have not seen this one before, so it could be rare and I am not aware of it. I love this and would love to have it. Thank you for sharing.
