I have had this Marklin engine in the attic for 20 years or so and have no idea about it's history. It came with some other engines that I found information on but cannot fine anything about this one. Can someone tell me what this is?

Hello. It is a Marklin DL 800
It is missing the 2 pantographs.
This brown version was made in 1955 - 1956.

So this would be known as a DL800 and also carries the number 3010-5 (there were 5 varieties made, this being the last, in brown.) The others were olive green in color. It is valuable if it is in working condition and nothing missing.

Check German eBay from time to time, to see if one pops up. You do not see them much. My dad used to have one (purchased it from an Australian Marklin enthusiast). He sold it and I wish he had not. I cannot help you with the value as it needs to be examined first to make sure it is not missing anything. If you have the original box in good to exellent condition, it adds about 20 % to the value. There is a market for this particular "Doppellokomotive"

I hope this helps. I have displayed my Marklin in "Collectors Weekly".

Thank you for your information. I have waited four years to get an answer but it was worth it.
