Got this kitchen Buddha this weekend at a garage sale covered in kitchen grease, washed it, but it needs a lot more work. The dish water was puke yellow with his first bath. Thinking I need a tooth brush to get the cracks clean, the whole thing was icky sticky goo. Think you are getting a deal at a couple bucks and the grease will wipe right off. Guessing Palmolive dish soap has its limitations, the whole thing looked like the dirty spots left behind. Maybe engine cleaner will work?

LOL toolate that is what sellers on ebay call it . I say it is built up grease . I clean old china dolls over 150 yrs old with windex .You can't damage paint unless it is not fired on . This little guy looks like his paint was fired .

Manikin, your right Windex does seem to take it off, last photo, first windex shower for Buddha. He will need more!

Never thought to look for marks? Found someone put little coasters right on top of the grease? That was intelligent, would not want grease to transfer anywhere? Can not tell if those are artist marks or just more grease under the grease. Photo of bottom added.

The cracks will never get clean, they are permanently stained unfortunately. Never immerse something with a crazed glaze in water or put any kind of liquid on it
