Again a miracle of craftsmanship from the past this wonderful micro mosaic brooch pin was probably made in the Biedermeier period. The brooch is created in the so-called Pietra Dura technique and leave a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The beautiful Mikro Mosaik is framed by a gold border in the form of a graceful bow with sprigs of Laurel Bush. Four small pearls are on each side of the border. The mosaic consists of different semi-precious stones and is very fine edited. The rim is 18 carat gold (not tested, but tested by a goldsmith) to the top of the loop is an old repair, but that is not to see on the front. The brooch is 4 cm high and 3 cm wide.
I was surprised to see one of my Micro Mosaic brooches (also on this page, the peasant lady on a cushion) to see on a film about this subject. If you want to learn more you can link to: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/14896068
