Manikin
(306 items)
Of all the mannequins I have posted this one is the only one that is classified as a doll ! Margit Nilsen made these to be sold as dolls and you could buy clothes for them factory made . As you can see the doll was meant to be flexible and sit ,bend, cross her legs ect. But the material she was made of did not withstand time and turned very hard and brittle and it became malformed . They no longer can bend and often found with middle of doll broke from the folds into 2 pieces . She was called the "Deb-U-Doll" she is not common to find and her stand and her body both are marked Margit Nilsen Studios . 20" tall circa 1940
She is not made of compo her body was made of a material that had a rubber in it and much like an old tire it got hard over the yrs .
