Got this old soapstone carving this weekend for $2.00 but the vase rims were all chipped up. Took out my dremel tool kit and sanded off the edges; no big chips now. Nice big carving full of animals 7 x 8 inches. Soapstone is soft like butter, took less then two minutes and 1/4 inch chips on the rims of the vases were gone.

Thanks Manikin, not great, but easy resale item. Soapstone and Shoushan stone carvings are real soft man made stone; you can carve them with your fingernail. Much prefer hardstone carvings.
