I bought a box of doll parts for an art project and found this doll carefully wrapped at the bottom of the box.

I know absolutely nothing about dolls, but it didn't seem like something that I should use for a project.

Your doll is a new unfired mold from and antique doll by Simon Halbig . These are usually sold in doll ceramic stores or classes for the person to paint doll themselves and then they fire it for you after finished. many woman liked to make to their own dolls . It is not easy to get painting done right like the german doll artists . You would then buy a wig from shop and maybe make your own clothes from a pattern in style of late 1800's to about 1920 when these type of dolls were originally made . The name on back of doll is a German doll Company but when doll is painted by new owner it is to be signed by them also and dated . So it is new doll mold and has very little value and it is expensive to paint, fire, buy and set eyes a wig you could spend hundreds and still have little value but you could say you did it :-) As is value is low and these are not selling at this time ,the craze to do these dolls peaked from 70'1990's but has very little interest in todays world of dolls and it is not collectible as is . Sorry that it was not a valuable doll . Mystery solved

Not at all! My original plan was to paint the head and put a flower arrangement in the wig section. Now I can and not feel guilty!

That would be a great idea vormat ! A hat vase lady . The flowers could look like her hat ! Will make a beautiful decor item !
