This was found in an old barn many years ago. It was found next to an oblong cast iron boiling pot, thought to be a ham cooking pot from the 1800's. This is 24" long and 13" wide at it's widest point. Definitely seems to be a trivet of some sorts, with the "ripples" on the top. The middle is recessed about 1/2" with the "ripples" being 3/4 high at highest point. My thoughts are it has to be old, but of what purpose??
Thanks for any input.

Interesting piece. The dimensions strike me as odd for a trivet, especially with it formed to fit in a recess. Perhaps it fit in a double griddle opening. My first thoughts were that it was either a vent grate or an ash grate. It will be fun to see what it really is.
