This magnificent 1850's Covered wagon China is huge at 32 inches . Very heavy doll . China dolls are dated by hair do's and this one is named the Covered wagon china , This size is rare to find and not damaged , She has a face that could last a lifetime and then one more , She has her original cloth body which is not common to find usually the cloth has deteriorated and bodies are re placed . A Real Treasure that I sold for 1000.00 and regret selling . She is also in her original dress.

Thank you Beaux for the love :-)
I can see where it broke your heart once you sold her. I had a Garage sale a while back, where I thought it was all junk, but no I screwed up and sold a couple of things that I can't get over!! This doll's face is SO perfect and serene and I love the thick neck, the peasant build, it took hardy women to cross the plains in wagons. I wouldn't last an hour..(but I still have a thick neck due to the Irish peasant half of my family). This doll is simply flawless. I am going to post one for you to look at that is flawed, well, bedraggled, but it is the oldest doll I have, maybe my Grandma's when she was young, I will post her. I am sure you will know who she is...you really are incredible, and I so love your taste in "fabulous women looking fabulous" art. I always want to call you "The Doctor", for your years of work in the hospital!! I can really feel how one might have regrets, selling this doll, even if it was good money..
Thank you Michelle !!!!!!!!!! You did get my name right too :-) I'll look for your doll to be posted .
PS all my work was voluntary for all those years
Doctor Florence Nightingale at the Hospital for Sick and Sore Dollies. You spoke of your mentor, and I know that when you meet someone who is, in themselves, a great treasure, that money is all UN-important!! I would love to have seen the beautiful dolls you have seen!! Regards, as always, michelle
That is so close to my name and title michelle it is funny , Email me at manikin1234@aol.com I will tell you my name you will be surprised :-) And yes i am an RN :-) and also a Dr . I will tell what kind on a email LOL
Wow. I've never seen such a beautiful doll outside of a book. Marvelous!!!
Thank you MiKKo ! Amazing how beautiful they stay as old as she is . I appreciate the love on her ! The parian doll I have listed by far stay as beautiful as China dolls . Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a pleasant note .
Thank you Bratjdd :-)
It is I who thank you, Manikin, for bringing home the bacon on the mystery parchment. Indeed, your posting did much to substantiate my provisional opinion and served as a fine catalyst. And it was offered with a very fine humbling graciousness and modesty. I had to see who you were, and lo! I behold that you serve many beautiful things. Beautiful dolls! Kind regards, miKKo
Thank you Derf !
Hi, Manikin. I received an email from Nicol Sayre this weekend, with photos of some dolls she was offering for sale, and next to one or more of her own dolls there was a doll very, very similar to this one. (The china doll was for display purposes only, I presume.) How hard would it be to find one of these dolls for sale? It is so very beautiful. I can't think of a single doll I prefer to this one. Thank you! Kind regards, miKKo
Covered wagon china's like this are not easy to find MiKK but they can be found . They are expensive but if you want one I will be happy to check around and see if I find one for sale someplace for you . I sold this doll near 1000.00 but one could expect to pay less if you search . She is very large so is it the style of her hair ect that you love are her huge size ?
Hi, Manikin. Thank you so very much for your generous and gracious email! It is difficult to express why I find this doll so appealing. When I first saw her, I was struck by her beauty, found her exceptional, but thought that she was perhaps one among some small number of dolls one might treasure AND own if one indulged oneself. (This 'one' buys dolls only for her niece.) However, I have been back to look at her several times since. This is a most singular doll. I can offer the following 'notes' I find attractive, but in the end, it is perhaps something intangible that places this doll so high in my esteem. Doll 'notable' for: honesty, simplicity, beautiful complexion, vulnerability, strength of character, serenity, delicacy, hardiness, gentle sadness, huggable size, 'imposing presence size', cool colors, cool to the touch, smooth, feminine. I do very much admire her hair style and large size - and her gently sweet, strong, and spiritual presence. I will save my pennies and start looking around. Perhaps I will stumble upon just the one eventually - most unlikely to be so large and grand as yours. It was most kind of you indeed to offer to look for one for me!!! I couldn't trouble you with such a search, but I am very grateful to you for the grand gesture. I just entered some of the terms you used to describe this doll into the ebay search engine, and got a fruitful yield. None of the dolls are as beautiful or as grand as yours, but I don't expect to find one as beautiful as yours. And it will be well to search, I think, as one learns to discriminate better with each encounter - hopefully. Thank you!!! miKKo
Mikko you did exquisite description of all this doll radiates ! I wish I still had her as I know you would have cherished her .
here is a site to watch for one though . This one just sold but check site often daily . They are very reputable dealers on this site and thank you for loving one of my dolls so much ! Please let me know if you find one . You are doing what all doll collectors should do. Buy one high quality doll not a lot of lower end ones ! That is the best advice I learned years ago . I have one China doll that I would not part with as she has the qualities you see in this one to me . I find peace and comfort when I look at her :-)

Many thanks to thee, Manikin, for your great kindness! I don't know how you parted with your covered wagon princess doll. No. I sure do appreciate the advice. I will watch rubylane. Oh, my - what a splendid doll is the one that just sold! Oh. I've been working on the paleography element of that old parchment puzzle - Leonard Boyle, Bernhard Bischoff, Lexicon Abbreviaturarum: Dizionario Di Abbreviature Latine Ed Italiane Adrian.....etc - and finding it rather satisfying. But your covered wagon doll offers serenity, as well as beauty and satisfaction. (No serenity in that mischief-making parchment!) I am so happy that you have another such china doll child to love. I will let you know when I find one for myself. Thank you, thank you! miKKo
Thank you blegoff :-)
Thank you lilli and bratjdd :-) She was a favorite of mine and I appreciate you stopping to give her some love :-)
