Loetz Rusticana Vase -maybe, or maybe not
So we bought this vase, approximately 4 1/2" H. was bought at a local Auction last Sunday. They had 3 pieces of what they called Loetz. While this was the only one we got, I'm concern with the broken pontil. I thought that Loetz always have a large smooth pontil.
Any guess?

DEFINALETY NOT LOETZ RUSTICANA.....IT WOULD HAVE LITTLE "WOODY KNOTS" IN THE SURFACE.
I SAY KRALIK "DRAPED".
sorry......spelling error.......DEFINITELY
not Loetz...maybe Bohemian...maybe Kralik
...and your right, if the Loetz piece has a pontil, its always well polished. There are Loetz pieces that do not have pontils at all. Some sources on the internet will tell you otherwise. They are wrong.
I BACK UP COMMENT 4 WITH A LOETZ FLAT BOTTOM (NO PONTIL) VASE I POSTED SOME TIME AGO : "EARLY LOETZ CRETA PAPILLON WITH CROSSED ARROWS SIGNATURE".
