This is difficult to photograph. It has a hand carved and painted peacock motif, which I think dates it to the '20's. The top, maybe ivory, screws off and the bottom piece screws off and fits into the top so you could carry it around. The very top piece that would screw onto the decorative piece at the top is missing. The finial is hollow, but I don't know if anything was carried around inside there.
are you willing to sell it and if so for how much?
I talked to my mother about this one because she gave it to me to begin with. It belonged to my grandmother's second husband who practiced medicine in Chicago in the 1920's. We would be willing to sell this piece but we don't know how to value it.
