First edition for this particular publishing company?
Hello antiquefreaque , that is a very good question, i have no idea ill have to ask my other half and ill get back to u on this and ill do some research ove the weekend:)
I don't want to be rude but yours is not a first edition. The Scottish Chiefs by Jane Porter was first printed in the year 1810 in five volumes. Your book was printed in 1890 so not possible that it is a first edition. I have the second edition which was printed in 1815 in four volumes. I hope this helps.
Still cool as I love anything pre-1900s! :)
im going by of what my other half has stated , and there no other copy righting on this book so im assuming that this was a 1st edition book. maybe by the publishing company? as you may have stated. and i do as well love anything that is pre1900:) and thankyou for the info:) your very helpful:)
i will change this and thankyou sweetheart for the help:) and your not rude :) its always great to get the correct answer:)
That's because this book is considered public domain. Public domain means no copyright is attached. You are free to reproduce it and republish it as you see fit. So you can legally take the text of a public domain book (such as the Bible) and copy it like onto a website. Any book which is in public domain has either no copyright or had a copyright and that copyright has expired. All books written before 1900 (such as works by Shakespeare, Dickens, Melville, etc.) are past copyright and hence public domain. So with most older books, maybe not all you will not see copyright info or it expired.
lol I do too much research I think... :)
Thank you for your time! Always fun explaining things :)
