November 2011 on Suma Beach Japan while metal detecting this very old 1600's ? gilt Jesuit crucifix appeared much to my surprise.
Its been gently cleaned of the calcium deposits from broken shells that was covering the crucifix. file markings beneath the gilt can be seen, in one place on a corner of the crucifix the gilt is starting to split, its very small area.
Anyone with genuine knowledge of Antique Jesuit Crucifix 's would be appreciated.
After almost 20 years of detecting in Japan & antique dealing I have never seen another antique Jesuit Crucifix like this in Japan or anywhere else.
