I have a vintage lighter. On the bottom it says gold chesterfield Japan. The front says Batista Es La Paz with a mans face glued on. On the left bottom is says FB and right bottom says NA. The back says president with what looks like 1951- - 1958. It is badly tarnished where the numbers are, so not positive. If anyone is familiar with his, I would appreciate any info.

Also have a Zippo lighter I have found in my fathers things. On the bottom it is marked Zippo Mfg. Co., Bradford, Pa
Pat. 2032895 Made in U.S.A.
The front has The old Line Life Insurance Co. of America. It looks like nickle over brass, A magnet does stick to it. Can you tell me if this advertising lighter is very old, and if it could have value?

your Batista lighter could be cuban. the initals FB could be for Fulgencio Batista. he was the president of cuba before Castro took over the country.

Here isdsome info on the Zippo. Of course condition is eerything but Zippo's are always collectible.

I agree with Danny, Batista was President of Cuba. In office from 1952 to 1959 according to wikipedia. Nice Find!

I have a cigarette lighter which I purchased at an antique shop/house when I visited Cuba a few years ago. It is a shape of a large bullet which the top part twists off and the lighting part of the lighter is inside and it has a very nicely hand carved base and the initials of FB are carved on the front of the lighter as well. It looks to be made of pure brass but it is oxidated. Not sure what to think about this but maybe yours are really from the x-president of Cuba (Flugencio Batista).
Would love to know if anyone knew how to find out really where it would of came from or at least how old it could be....
