Hello, I did not until today know that the style of china that I had might be called "Flow Blue" china. I have four plates 22 cm wide that say MONARCH, New Wharf Pottery England on the bottom.
The five cups have a lovely blue pattern all around them of pagodas, fruits, and trees, but I cannot find any name on the bottom (5-1/2 cm tall, 7-1/4 cm wide). There is also a pattern running along the inside of the cup 2-1/2 cm from the edge into the cup. I'd be interested in knowing their general timeframe, if anyone can recognize the patterns on the, and any other information that you would like to give me.     1890 - 1894 for the Monarch.
    New Wharf Pottery England
    Earthenware manufacturer at Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent
    In 1877 Thomas, or T.F. as he was called in later years, along with his brother William, purchased for £5075 a site in Navigation Road, which they called New Wharf Pottery, and which they had probably been tenants or since 1875.
    The name New Wharf was probably derived from the New Wharf that was built on the nearby canal at that time. Later became Wood & Sons.

    okay, so that explains the initials on the bottom.. it looks like one has FP, the other like FP or FF, the other no initials, and the fourth has FF or FP (perhaps the F glaze ran and made a P?)

    Not too sure about those letters.
    Perhaps someone else can fill in that information.
    I've seen an F next to the rope on a Monarch plate on ebay.
    Are there any impressed numbers?
    Another plate had 7 and 86 suggesting July 1886.
    Wood & Sons were some of the great potters at Burslem.

    Okay, used magnifying glass to better identify- one is definitely FF, another is FF (and it has an impressed O or U on the rope), the third plate likely FF (second F is blurred so looks like FP), and that third plate too has an impressed U on the rope.
