The 2nd photo in my Grandad wrote on the back 'My darling wife'. Some of the small photos have her age written down as 21. The first photo shows her as a telephone exchange/switchboard operator I think! My nan was a Wren (Jenny Wren!).

Dont know where your Gran went for training, but my Auntie was in the Wrens, trained at Bruche in Warrington, she later left the Wrens and joined the Police, went back to Bruche to train again, .....it had been taken over by the Police as a training establishment!!

Hi again scandinavian_pieces, in response to your question, it appears that these hats are quite scarce! My friend does not have one at the moment. The only good hat available, that I know of, is on a militaria web site, but is very expensive as they are selling it with a rare Wrens steel helmet as well, but worth having a look anyway ; http://www.regimentals.co.uk/shop.php?s=9
Thank you very much Petey, I will have a look : )
