Got this cheap at a farm auction years ago and got blown away by the price realized when a similar one finally turned up on an ebay auction after years of watching. I got two, this blue one (full) and a yellow example with no liquid ~ which I assume is carbon tetrachloride ~ plus a third which was the frame only ~ no glass. I sold the yellow one and the frame-only years ago and have regretted it ever since....
This grenade is about a foot long and 3" diameter at the widest point. About impossible to photograph the lettering on the handle, which reads "Y-BURN WINNER ~ A Winner Never Loses A Fight With Fire ~ Works by itself or throw it from a safe distance" The handle appears to have a fusable link that would release a spring to break the glass in the heat of a fire.
Can anyone tell me why these are so uncommon?

Well, no answers, but an identical extinguisher (in an amber yellow color) with significant metal corrosion just sold on ebay for $353.00 (free shipping). Yowzers!
Now I REALLY regret selling that other one for what I am sure was 1/10th the price....
