This pin belong to a woman whom passed away many years ago,she always wore this on her coat.I beleave the claw is a Grouse.People that I have talk to beleave the stone to be Citrine. As you can see the flash brought out color in a dark like stone. The Citrine seems to me kind of large for a pin this size. What do you think,is it Citrine?

Looks like a Scottish kilt pin. The stone looks like Cairngorm a smokey yellow quartz found in Scotland. Likely dates from 1850-1860's. Really cool piece of wearable history.

Thank you vintagemad that fits in the era of this family as far as the years.A lot of young people have said it is ugly and that they would never wear it.Yes the pin does seem to be long on back,I beleave the claw has silver and a bit of gold around it.There seems to be writing or print ing also on back of peace.

Absoutely amazing! It may be a bold statement to wear everyday, but these things have their very own beauty that some people just can't appreciate. I love the wolf motif at the top of the gemstone. Also, bang on guess vintagemad, mystery solved for sure!

Thank you Luisa for your comment, yes the woman who owned this came from a family of immense wealth. Her family was apart of what they use to call the old money family's.The large homes the opulance of fine things. For me it was an interesting education on wealth and the bold statements some people make when money is no object.

I remember back in the day we use to carry a Rabbit's foot keychain and even today they still sell them. Yet this peace with the claw showing is ugly to some people.
