Louis Icart, French (1880 - 1950)
Louis Icart was born in Toulouse, France. He began drawing at an early age. He was particularly interested in fashion, and became famous for his sketches almost immediately. He worked for major design studios at a time when fashion was undergoing a radical change-from the fussiness of the late nineteenth century.
His paintings were often of nude women . The color is a bit washed out from camera flash ."Pappilion is French for Butterfly"

The naked butterfly woman seems very symbolic of the change and rebirth of fashion design during his time.Shedding the old to embrace the new.Very nice piece Mani !!

I love this I have this one and two other icarts in my bedroom. One with fanny laying over a fur spread with roses by her head and the other with fanny and three greyhounds. They make me happy!
