This 1916 Mercury dime was recovered from the ruins of Hurricane Katrina. 1916 was a year before the U.S entered World War I

   This is also the first year of this model Dime, Btw over the years this has come to be commonly called a "Mercury" dime, but the correct term is Winged Liberty dime. If you look hard at the back side and find a mint mark "D", you've got a real goodie.
