I think the cedar chest is a good spot for him!lol! I think he was made in the early 60's but not for sure. Awesomely creepy.
It is the Jolly Chimp from the Sixties; see this youtube vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W_obKqqD4w
It’s a creepy toy... that’s for sure... I wouldn’t own one personally, but I would give it to someone I didn’t like as a gift... especially since most of them are known to be haunted!
I love them! People are scared of them since the one in Poltergeist, I think. They are delightful.
One of these was just featured on Pawn Stars this evening. The one on the show still had the original box. The Pawn shop paid $150.00 for it and told the customer it's value was $300.00.
There are several versions of Musical Jolly Chimp that were made from the 50's and 60's. I have the older all metal one, with the red striped pants, and yes I have it to creep people out. They do make reproductions of these. Pawn stars slay me. After they put that Chimp on there everyone and their mother are dumping their chimps on ebay. There goes the price of that item.
I have had this up for months now and just starting to get replies about it
But I am enjoying what everyone is saying about it ….
I don't get the "creepy" stuff. ???
Just kinda think it's cool.
" 50's or 60's" That's cool.
I missed that Pawn episode never seen this monkey before
pretty popular I guess huh?
Thanks for sharing.

You should see if it works. Mine doesn't sadly, but I love this face. I have him sitting with my 1920's Schuco "yes, no monkey"
I love him! He reminds me of the "camera watching" monkey on Toy Story 3!
What a great item!
I do get the creepy stuff, but I've always wanted one anyway. Very cool.
Wow,, this monkey brings back vivid memories. It scared the h*&@ out of me when I was young. There was one on a shelf at the bottom of the stairs to the basement of my Grandparents home and when I went down there this monkey would going off clapping out of the blue. It was the most bizarre and creepiest thing! I saw one at an antique store a few years back and I have no idea what possessed me to buy it but I just had to have it. It sits quietly in my attic. LOL
i have this monkey tattooed on the inside of my left forearm (the one vestaswind has) creepy cymbal monkey!!!
Very creepy indeed! Why the tat? Just b/c you like it? Monkey or chimp? Hmm... I don't see a tail so it must be a chimp! LOL I've never heard of it being haunted before but from my experience, yep, most definitely!!
Okay, that's it. No more Collectors Weekly for me tonight, this is another Flashback to childhood (3rd one tonight) and making me feel old! In the 70's a childhood friend had this chimp, I never did care for it!
I am an expert on things. This is a variation of the vintage Charlie Chimp made by lincoln international.
can you tell me how old it may be I have had it for many years now
