My dad joined the California National Guard at age 17 in 1937. He was Stationed at Fort MacArthur, CA with the 140th Infantry. In Oct 1939 he decided to Join the US Navy and by 1943 he had made Chief Mineman. My dad retired from the service in 1959. First photo taken in 1938, second photo taken at NAD West Loch, T.H. 1949.

I know your proud of your dad,as you should be. That was one heck of a generation we produced there! GOT to keep there accomplishments in front of the kids today, to give them something to strive for. P.S. tell Mackey hi!
