Not that old. These were produced as test cans in the late 1970s, early 1980s I believe. Very lightweight aluminum with a plastic lid that closes. I guess these were designed to be used to sip and close. I don't know really. If anyone has more info, please feel free to share. I've seen one sell on eBay last year for about $150. I think I bought mine years ago for about $10.

Well, it is definitely different. Is there a manufacturer's mark on it? Ball Can does a lot of prototype and test market stuff, maybe they might have some solid history on it.

Yeah, looks like it has a recloseable lid. Funky design! Never see one before. They can't be common. Ray, you seem to be able to pull interesting items out of your hat, just like a magician. Very Cool.

No markings, must be super-secret test can. I worked at the Ball plant in Newburgh, NY last fall and in their lobby they have a showcase, basically a whole wall, of everything they've produced from day one.
