I bought this for about 20$ at a thrift store in Toronto, not sure if the cameo is made from a conch shell or something else. Guessing it is made from some sort of pot metal with a gold tone finish that's worn off a bit. The locket is attached to the cameo, leaving an interesting space in between I've been trying to resist to attempt opening. I don't really know much about where it came from, any ideas on when it might have been made or any info in general would be much appreciated!!

It may be a souvenir brought back from Italy around 1880.
I appreciate your insight, thank you. It does seem like souvenir quality and would make sense that the cameo would be italian.
