I have had this plate since 1968. The movie was filmed near my home in San Francisco. For those who have seen the movie, this plate was on the stunt car which was in the chase scene. The gas station scene was filmed near where we lived. We arrived shortly after the gas station had blown up as it was still smoldering.

One of the best car chase scene ever filmed. Steve McQueen was always compared to Paul Newman, but Steve had it all over Paul in this movie.
Hello, I have a question for you regarding potential display of this prop at an upcoming screening of Bullitt at the Old Mint near 5th and Mission in San Francisco (we will have locked, glass cases and security). I can explain more about the event either by email or phone. Probably the easiest way to reach me without me leaving contact info on this page is to find me on Facebook and send me a message referencing this. My name is Jeff Palfini. There is only one on Facebook. Thanks so much for your time in replying.
