I just received this basket as a birthday present from my Mom this month. She thought it was old and so do I. I've tried to do some research but what I have found is that it may be from California. I'm here in Indiana. It seemed unlikely to get so far. It's 4 1/4 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches wide. Very tight weave and in very good condition.
Does anyone know it's history or worth?

Contact a place called Len's Indian Territory online. They give free appraisals and fast too. This place is full of Native American artifacts.
You would be amazed to know Native American basketry was bought and taken back by tourists to where they live, all over the world. They show up all over. You have a great basket there and it is certainly valuable. It would be a great idea to get it appraised.
