Two watercolours by the twins Mary and Peggy Davidson signed M.Davidson.
These watercolours show the twin sisters' interest in Australian Flora and Fauna.
All of the eight watercolours in my collection show their attention to anatomical and botanical detail. They were "illustrators" rather than "artists". As such their work has been ignored by the 'art world'. I know that Marion (aka Mary) died in 1991 but so far I have not been able to track down her twin sister. Marion and Margaret Davidson were born in Indonesia.
They donated thousands of photos that are now part of the Sydney Heritage Fleet's "Davidson Collection" a collection of about 4000 maritime photographs in memory of their father a ship's captain.
