Pair of Barcelona chairs vintage reproduction marked on bottom of front legs ( industriaargentina) they were purchased in 1970 from a resale shop. they have the original straps that are cracking and sagging but the cushions were recovered poorly and with cheap fabric sometime in the 1970's there is no rusting anywhere just lots of dirt. i have located someone with exp. in reconditioning these types of chairs and was given a price of $250.00 per chair, $20.00 per strap and i supply the leather for the cushions. now im wondering if these chairs are worth the $1000.00 it will cost me to get these babies up n runnin.. anyone with knowledge of these barcelona chairs please let me know what to do with them... PLEASE HELP they were given to me by a friend of mine.

Seems an expensive exercise. Here in Oz you can but them brand new for that price. The originals are mind bogglingly OTT price wise. But if you like them.....?
thnx vetraio50, i have seen original knoll barcelona chairs and was hoping that this pair were originals! was a little disapointed to find they are not.. i do like the chairs, but my concern is are they worth the $1000.00 + to refurbish them

You can buy new ones cheaper on line I see, I wonder if they sell the cushions also. Also you do have to worry about seeing good work, I once had some original Bel Geddes chairs recovered, and I had to throw away the first girls work and get someone I trusted more.
