    The photos really show everything It is very narrow and one sided. The fork thing fits into it at the top and you don't see it when it is inserted. Any ideas?

    Could you post photo's of the back side of the pieces? That may help.

    Really the back of the fish is just flat, the same as the front but without the design. The for thing is the same on both sides.

    I'm thinking a novelty "puzzle" or "trick" padlock (no key) BUT I've never seen one like that and I'd have to know how it went together.

    Thank you for your help. I think this one must have had something that inserted into the bottom for the spring thing to catch on that looks to be gone. The mechanism still stays in until you pull it out though
