Can anyone identify this object,as to what purpose it serves and why someone took the time to construct it ?? This was purchased at an estate sale for the sole purpose of being a strange !! It was owned by an airplane pilot, if that makes any difference, and was a mystery to the people who were conducting the sale. As you can see, the part you raise up has a bell mounted on the top and it has a hole in the middle of the bell to insert the pin. On the underside of the raised part there is a spring loaded holder that holds something. On the base is a small metal plate that the raised part falls on. The raised part is attached to the base with a hinge. The hole in the bell goes all the way through the bell. My best guess is an individual cap gun for the purpose of scaring off an unwanted animal?? Come on all you mystery solvers---What do you think it is ????? I need some opinions!
No I have not tried it but it looks to me, if it is a cap firing system, that it will only fire one cap at a time from the look of the spring loaded holder. Only room for one cap.It is a puzzling contraption! Thanks for your input scottscuff!
Yes ,I guess it could handle multiple caps folded over on themselves. That's an interesting concept!
