the globes are 1/2" wide very heavy, if i remember right old glass was very heavy. This women was a sister of my wife's great grandmother she married a clipper ship captain in 1861. We know the captains father was also a captain, very possibly a slave ship early 1830--1840. Well we have her diaries she wrote as she traveled around the world and would bring home gold a lot. After she die 1917 her sister had a ton $ she and her son and child's told a lot, i saw letters about this.
