Majolica Charger 12 1/4" across. Love the flow of the freely hand painted green leaves. Five cherubs or cupids at least three of them are playing musical instruments. On the back you can see the dripping of the glaze. Very nice over all heavy feel.
I was hoping to place a Country of origin to it and or maker.
Thank you Dean, I lived and went to school in Italy for a couple of years when I was a a child. I tend to be attracted to things Italian, so that was my guess but had no luck finding anything similar. I only suspected an earlier date. I certainly appreciate and value your descriptive opinion! I think I'll poke around a bit more using an earlier date and see what else I can find.
If anyone knows, I'm also very curious to find out what the earliest date holes for hanging were placed in this type of ware.
