I found this young lady at a Vinnies yesterday. She's marked at the base with the Royal Worcester mark and a "W". This dates her to 1950. She's as old as I am, an almost antique.
The artist modellers are Sybil V Williams and Jessamine S Bray who were commissioned to produce some pretty lady figures for Royal Worcester. This figure was designed earlier in the thirties: I've seen one on the net from 1935. Jessamine S. Bray and Sybil V. Williams worked together at the Dulwich Pottery, where they made striking ceramic figures and vases in the late 1920's and 30's.
She's a young woman wearing a ermine fur-lined maroon cloak and blue and yellow bonnet, laden with gifts, balloons and a Christmas tree, carrying an ermine fur muff, 11.5cm., script title, printed marks, date code and model no. 2905 in black. There are decorator marks in light blue as well: "JJ". As yet I have not found out who that would have been.
Help needed!
Is that mistletoe she has just above the balloons?
It also has a sales label from David Jones a leading retail outlet here in Australia.
I like the back of the figure most of all for the colours on that cloak.
