Found this many years ago and thought it was a Great painting. I stored it with many other things that I was collecting and it was forgotton until I ran across it whilile searching through my "Treasures"!! Can anyone tell me anything about it?? It seems to be an older painting and frame. The back looks to be made out of a wooden apple box or something like that.

Thanks Bellin68!!! I am glad you let me know!!
Very nice!
Is there a signature?
Yes-- there's a signature on thr lower left. It reads Leiber or Leibor. The bottom part of the L underlines the name. After the r ,the frame blocks my view of any more letters if there are any. Ever heard of this guy??? Any ideas?? Thank's for the interest packrat-place !!!!
Fridolin Leiber (1853 in Niedereschach, 1912 in Frankfurt) was a German painter who produced a number of popular religious prints.
He worked for art publisher Edward Gustav May in Frankfurt and his first works for May were depictions of saints. Leiber signed his work either with his full name or with his initials "F. L."
Hope this helps
What to add to what packrat-place has said?
I suppose that it's a picture of Jesus and his step-father, Joseph.
"In other paintings, saints are pictured bringing vases full of white lilies to Mary and the infant Jesus. St. Joseph is depicted holding a lily-branch in his hand, indicating that his wife Mary was a virgin."
What did you end up doing with this? I have had one exactly like it different but similar style frame for years. Did you get it appraised? YOu are the ONLY one online I have found so far with this same one and I've searched about 6 hours today.
I still have it, just have not had it appraised. If you get a chance, how about posting your similar one.
