We estimate this clock to be from circa 1850 and if so, it would be one of the oldest clocks currently in our collection.

We lucked out and acquired it at an estate auction for a very reasonable price. In the auction, it immediately followed a highly sought after antique clock which went for an astronomical amount of money in a serious bidding war.

This lowly little clock didn't appear to work and fortunately none of the high-rollers seemed interested in the little guy.

Chauncey Jerome was a very significant figure in the history of American Clock Manufacturing. To come across one of his clocks in such excellent, original condition was a great find.

As-Found, the clock is complete and it does work well. Once we got it home and removed the dial we discovered that at some point-in-time, a previous owner or clock smith had simply secured the movement properly for safe shipping and handling.

Handling of antique pendulum clocks at auctions can be very bad for their health. Thanks to a little TLC from all of its previous owners, this beauty has made it through the years in great shape.

Hey Scottscuff. Yes, we took a chance and got lucky. The case was in beautiful shape. All of the veneer was intact and you hardly ever see that on these old-timers.
